Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 to 30 medium size cucumbers
    8 large white onions
    2 large bell peppers
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. cider vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    5 c. sugar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Wash cukes and slice as thin as possible.
    Chop onions and peppers and combine with the cukes and the salt.
    Let stand 3 hours and drain.
    Combine sugar, vinegar and spices in a large pot and bring to a boil.
    Add drained cukes and heat thoroughly but do not bring to a boil.
    Pack while hot into sterilized jars and seal at once.
