Roman Apple Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/8 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 c. shortening (I use Imperial margarine)
2 large eggs
2/3 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. apples, pared and chopped
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Beat in shortening, eggs, milk and vanilla; mix well.
Stir in apples by hand.
Pour batter into a 9 x 13-inch or 9 x 9-inch pan (for deeper cake), then cover batter with topping.
