Ingredients

1 1/2 c. butter or margarine, at room temperature
3 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1 Tbsp. grated lemon rind
4 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; blend in vanilla, lemon juice and rind.
Sift together dry ingredients; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
