Old-Time Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef, cubed
    2 Tbsp. oil
    4 c. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. paprika
    bay leaf
    dash of allspice
    4 to 6 potatoes
    4 to 6 carrots
    1 lb. small white onions
    1/4 c. flour
    1/2 c. cold water
Preparation
    Brown beef in oil.
    Add water, salt, lemon juice, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, paprika, bay leaf and allspice. Simmer 2 hours.
    Add potatoes, carrots and onions. Cook until vegetables are tender.
    Thicken gravy with flour mixed in water.
