Apple Torte - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 to 4 c. thinly sliced crisp apples
    1/2 c. ground nuts
Preparation
    Cream butter, sugar and egg.
    Add sifted flour, soda, salt and spices.
    Stir into creamed mixture.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Fold in sliced apples and nuts or use nuts to sprinkle over top.
    Bake in greased 8 x 8-inch pan for about 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350\u00b0. Serve warm with powdered sugar dusted over top or whipped cream. Even nice with vanilla ice cream.
    I sometimes use as a breakfast dish as well.
