Strawberry Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. grated lime zest
    pinch of ground cloves or ground nutmeg
    1 pt. basket strawberries (3 1/4 c.)
    1 frozen pound cake (16 oz.), thawed
    1 (1/2 pt.) container heavy cream, well chilled
Preparation
    Combine the first 4 ingredients in saucepan.
    Add 2 cups strawberries; mash strawberries in saucepan with potato masher. Bring to simmer, stirring until thickened.
    Cool to lukewarm.
    Cut cake lengthwise to make 3 layers.
    Spread about 2 1/2 tablespoons of strawberry mixture between each layer.
    Sandwich layers together.
