Coconut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/3 c. plus 3 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. milk
    2 eggs
    3 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together.
    Add shortening, milk, vanilla and beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. Add egg and beat another 2 minutes.
    Pour into 3 (8-inch) greased and floured cake pans.
    Cook in 350\u00b0 oven until lightly brown, about 30 minutes.
    Spread layers and sides and top of warm cake with cooked frosting.
    Cover with coconut.
