Mother'S Missouri Style Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. corn meal
1/3 chopped onion
1 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 egg

Preparation

Preheat fat to 375\u00b0.
Make well in the center of dry ingredients.
Add liquid mixture.
Mix until well blended.
Form into small cakes (1 tablespoon each).
Deep fry one layer deep 3 to 4 minutes or until well browned.
Turn with tongs when crispy on surface.
Drain.
Makes 2 dozen.
