Sausage Rice Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large onion, finely chopped
    1 lb. bulk fresh pork sausage
    1 (4 oz.) chicken noodle soup mix
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
    4 1/2 c. water
    1 (4 oz.) pkg. slivered almonds (optional)
Preparation
    Brown onion and sausage in a large skillet, stirring to crumble sausage. Drain well. Add soup mix to uncooked rice, water and almonds.
    Mix well and simmer for 7 minutes.
    Spoon into buttered 2 1/2-quart casserole dish. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Makes 5 to 6 servings.
