Sam'S Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 to 8 c. cabbage (packed), chopped or shredded
5 or 6 strips bacon
1 c. water
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt or to suit the taste
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 to 3 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
small amount of red (hot) pepper (if desired)
Preparation

Fry bacon until crisp; set aside.
In a large frying pan put cabbage, onion, water and bacon drippings.
Cover and cook 30 minutes or until as done as you like it, but cook until mushy. Then add the sugar, salt, pepper and red pepper.
Cook a little longer, 5 or 6 minutes.
Don't forget to add the crumbled bacon to cabbage for added flavor.
