Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large raw onion
    1 c. white sugar
    raw cucumbers, sliced
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1 c. brown vinegar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/3 tsp. turmeric
    1/3 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Mix vinegar, sugar, salt and spices until everything is well dissolved.
    Do not heat.
    Slice the onion into a glass or plastic quart jar.
    Fill the jar with sliced, unpeeled cucumbers.
    Pour solution over cucumbers.
    Put on lid, but it is not necessary to seal.
    Keep in refrigerator.
    They are crisp and keep for up to a year.
