Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    3/4 c. dark syrup
    1/2 to 3/4 c. water
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cook sugar, dark syrup and water
    in a 2 quart saucepan until crackle
    stage.
    Pour
    syrup
    slowly
    into
    beaten
    egg whites, beating until nearly set.
    Add vanilla and nuts.
    When stiff enough to hold shape, drop
    by
    teaspoons onto wax paper or quickly pour into buttered pan.
