Pea-Jag(Cape Verdean Rice Dish) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. vegetable oil
    1 c. rice
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 c. water
    1 onion, diced
    2 bay leaves
    1/4 tsp. paprika
    1 can peas
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Saute onions in oil in saucepan.
    Add peas to onions and simmer 2 minutes more.
    Add water and seasonings.
    Bring to boil. Add rice and simmer, covered, for 25 minutes.
