Mom'S Stuffed Green Peppers With Homemade Creole Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. stewed tomatoes
    1/2 c. onion, finely chopped
    1/2 green pepper, chopped fine
    3 Tbsp. oil
    1 clove garlic, chopped fine
    1 small bay leaf
    1/8 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Sauce:
    Saute green pepper, onion and garlic in oil.
    Simmer 5 minutes until soft, not browned.
    Add remaining ingredients and simmer 40 to 50 minutes, until thick.
    Add this mixture to 1 pound ground meat browned and sauteed with 1 tablespoon of grated onion and 1/3 cup finely chopped celery.
    Add salt and pepper to taste. Cool 5 minutes or until vegetables are soft.
    Add 1 1/2 cups cooked rice.
    Moisten with Creole sauce, you may not want all of it.
