Moms Old-Fashioned Boiled Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. whole milk
    1 doz. jumbo eggs
    1 - 2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Make in 2 batches. Place 1/2 gal. milk on stove in heavy pot. Bring almost to boil; do not allow to boil. Add vanilla to taste, about 1 tsp. Separate eggs. Beat egg yolks and whites separately. Add 3/4 cup sugar to each batch. Then add egg yolks.
