Fried Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large onions
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. flour
    1 egg
    1 tsp. melted shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt and pepper
    2 c. shortening or oil
Preparation
    Cut
    onions
    into 1/4-inch slices; separate rings.
    Dip into thin
    batter
    made\tfrom milk, flour, melted shortening, salt, pepper and egg.
    Fry in hot shortening or oil, enough to cover onions, until brown; drain.
