Strawberry Refrigerator Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 pt. strawberries
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    1 lb. vanilla wafers, broken
Preparation
    Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Hull, wash and quarter berries and add together with nut meats to butter-sugar mixture.
    Mix thoroughly and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Line bottom of refrigerator dish with broken vanilla wafers, then add layer of strawberry mixture. Continue alternating layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of wafers on top. Cover dish and place in refrigerator to chill at least 12 hours.
    Cut in squares and serve with whipped cream.
