Dutch "Pocket Books" - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    pastry for 2 double pies
    1/2 lb. finely diced beef chuck (other meat such as pork, lamb or liver may be substituted)
    2 small potatoes, pared and thinly sliced
    2 Tbsp. chopped onion
    2 small carrots, thinly sliced
    2 small turnips, thinly sliced
    salt and pepper to taste
    butter to taste
Preparation
    Divide pastry into 2 portions.
    Roll 9 inches each.
    Put half of the meat and vegetables for each half of dough.
    Fold pastry over filling to form a pocket book and seal edges with fork.
    Slit top.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Reduce heat to 350\u00b0 and bake 40 minutes until golden brown.
