Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. oleo
    1 lb. brown sugar
    1 c. white Karo
    1 can Eagle Brand milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    nuts (if desired)
Preparation
    Melt the oleo.
    Add the brown sugar; stir until mixed well. Add the Karo and Eagle Brand; boil to 236\u00b0, stirring constantly. Add the vanilla and nuts, if desired; mix well.
    Pour into buttered pans; chill 2 hours.
    Cut, put in wrappers and store.
