Very Cherry Sundaes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dark sweet cherries or 2 (16 1/2 to 17 oz.) cans pitted dark sweet cherries, drained plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
    vanilla ice cream
    1 Tbsp. brandy (optional)
Preparation
    In 1-quart casserole, cook cherries or canned cherries plus 2 tablespoons sugar, covered, on high heat for 4 to 5 minutes, until hot.
    Stir halfway through cooking.
    Stir in 1 tablespoon brandy (optional).
