Blackberry Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. blackberry jam
    1 1/2 c. flour
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
    Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add alternately with the flour.
    Add cinnamon, allspice and cloves.
    Add jam last. Bake in two or three layers in moderate oven until brown.
