Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/4 c. milk
    8 apples, peeled and cored
    8 Tbls. sugar
    8 Tbls. butter
    cinnamon and sugar mixed
Preparation
    Sift flour, salt and baking
    soda, cut in shortening. Add milk and stir. Knead lightly on floured board, roll to 1/8 inch thick. Divide dough into 8 parts. Fill hollow of apples with 1 Tbls. sugar and 1 Tbls. butter. Fold dough over apples and press edges together, place in a shallow baking pan. Sprinkle with
    sugar and cinnamon mix and dot with butter. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 30 - 40 minutes.
