Raisin Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. raisins
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    2 3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. soda
    1 c. broken English walnuts
Preparation
    Cook raisins in water slowly for 20 minutes.
    Cool, drain and save liquid.
    Cream sugar, egg and shortening.
    Add enough water to liquid to make 3/4 cup in all.
    Sift flour, salt and soda.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with liquid.
    Add raisins and walnuts.
    Fill buttered round bean cans or tomato cans 1/2 full and bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes for bean can/1 hour for tomato cans.
