Sauerbraten - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 to 4 lb. beef (rump)
    3 bay leaves
    4 cloves
    1 pt. vinegar
    salt and pepper
    about 1 c. water
    12 gingersnaps
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 pkg. carrots
    6 onions, sliced
Preparation
    Marinate meat in vinegar, water, bay leaves, cloves, salt and pepper for 3 to 5 days.
    Then remove meat and brown on both sides. Add 1 1/2 cups vinegar-water and roast in oven at 325\u00b0.
    Also add carrots and onions and roast about 3 hours.
