White Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. soft shortening
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. milk
    3 c. flour
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix together thoroughly the sugar, shortening and egg.
    Stir in milk.
    Sift together and stir in the flour, baking powder and salt.
    Blend in nuts.
    Pour into well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
    Let stand 20 minutes before baking.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 60 to 70 minutes (until wooden toothpick thrust into center comes out clean).
    Serve warm or cold.
    Cut with thin sharp knife to prevent crumbling.
