Green Tomato Pickle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 peck green tomatoes
    1 qt. onions
    salt and vinegar as desired
    half a dozen red peppers
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1 tsp. red pepper
    nutmeg
Preparation
    In large pot, place a layer of tomatoes and sprinkle with salt. Then add a layer of onions and red peppers; salt.
    Continue layers until vegetables are done.
    Let stand overnight; drain well.
    Cover with vinegar and spices.
    Boil slowly 4 or 5 hours.
