Ingredients

2 c. white sugar
1 c. fresh buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1/2 butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts
Preparation

Put in large pan buttermilk; add soda.
Let stand 3 minutes. Add sugar and butter.
Cook at a rolling boil, stirring constantly, until it will form a soft ball when dropped in cold water.
Let cool to room temperature.
Beat until creamy.
Add vanilla and nuts.
