Date Pinwheels(Cookies) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. white sugar
    1 lb. dates, cut up
    1 c. water
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. brown sugar
    3 eggs
    4 c. plain flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cook together the first 3 ingredients.
    Cook slowly for 15 minutes.
    Let cool and add the pecans.
    In another bowl, mix well the remaining ingredients.
    Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours. Take out and divide in 4 equal parts. Roll dough out on floured board and spread each portion with 1/4 of the filling.
    Roll up like a jelly roll. Store in refrigerator overnight. Slice and bake at 410\u00b0 until golden brown. Rolls may be kept in freezer to slice and bake as needed.
