Checkerboard Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. oleo
    1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix thoroughly the first 3 ingredients.
    Blend the flour and salt into mix.
    Divide dough in half.
    Tint half the dough with any food coloring.
    Chill, if desired.
    Take 1 teaspoon of each color and roll into pencil-like roll.
    Alternate colors.
    Use beaten egg white in between to stack layers about 3 wide and 3 high.
    Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
    Slice 1/4 inch thick and place on cookie sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 2 dozen.
