Economical Gold Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted Swans Down cake flour
    2 tsp. Calumet baking powder
    1/2 c. butter or shortening
    1 c. sugar
    3 egg yolks, beaten until thick and lemon color
    3/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla or 1/2 tsp. orange extract
Preparation
    Sift flour once.
    Measure and add baking powder and sift together 3 times.
    Cream butter thoroughly. Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.
    Add egg yolks and beat well.
    Add flour alternately, a small amount at a time.
    Add flavoring.
    Beat well.
    Bake in greased pan 8 x 8 x 2-inch in 350\u00b0 oven for 50 minutes or until done.
    Frost with your choice.
    For a large cake, double recipe.
