Southern Raised Biscuits - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
5 Tbsp. oil
1 cake yeast
1 c. warm buttermilk
Preparation

Mix dry ingredients.
Dissolve yeast in warm buttermilk. Combine with other ingredients and stir lightly and quickly.
Turn onto floured surface and knead gently 20 to 30 times.
Roll out or pat to 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut with floured 1-inch biscuit cutter. Brush each biscuit with oil or butter.
Place biscuit on top of each biscuit on ungreased sheet.
Cover and let rise for 2 hours. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
