Greek Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 to 2 lb. beef stew meat
    1 can tomatoes
    3 Tbsp. butter
    3 c. onions, cut into large pieces
    1 c. dry red wine
    1/2 tsp. wine vinegar
    1 can tomato paste
    1/4 tsp. allspice
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cook onions in butter until cooked, but still crisp.
    Remove from pan.
    Brown meat.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Simmer 2 hours.
    Add onions just before eating.
    Heat through.
