Holiday Cake - cooking recipe

2 sticks margarine
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 eggs
2 1/4 c. sifted plain flour, divided
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. red or green maraschino cherries, well drained
1 c. chopped pecans, divided
Preparation

Cream margarine, cheese, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
Sift 2 cups flour with baking powder and add slowly to creamed mixture. Combine remaining 1/4 cup flour with cherries and 1/2 cup pecans. Fold into batter.
Sprinkle remaining pecans into bottom of a well greased (no flour) tube pan.
Pour in batter and bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour or until done.
Cool in pan 5 minutes, then remove to finish cooling.
