Hawaiian Crown Cake - cooking recipe

3 c. sifted Swans Down cake flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
3/4 tsp. almond extract or vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
1 3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. milk
3 eggs and 1 yolk (unbeaten)
Preparation

Measure flour, baking powder, salt and sugar into sifter.
Stir shortening to soften.
Sift dry ingredients.
As you stir, add milk and extract.
Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of mixer.
Add eggs and yolk.
Beat 1 minute more.
Bake in greased and floured 9-inch tube pan at 375\u00b0 for 50 to 55 minutes.
Cool for 15 minutes. Loosen and turn right side up.
