Old Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. yellow cucumbers
    1 gal. water
    2 c. lime
    2 gal. water
    1 small box alum
    2 gal. water
    1 box pulverized ginger
    3 pt. vinegar
    2 pt. water
    5 lb. sugar
    1/2 box pickling spices
Preparation
    Peel and core cucumbers.
    Soak 24 hours in a gallon of water and lime.
    Wash and soak 24 hours in 2 gallons of water and alum. Wash and soak 6 hours in two gallons of water mixed with ginger. Drain and soak 3 to 4 hours in remaining ingredients.
    Boil 1 hour; bottle and seal in this last solution.
