Cowboy Dinner - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. uncooked rice
    3 Tbsp. cooking fat/oil
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 bay leaf
    3 whole cloves
    9 frankfurters, cut up
    1 1/2 c. onion, sliced (2 onions)
    1 (No. 2) can tomatoes
    4 Tbsp. green pepper, chopped (1/2 whole pepper)
    1 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Cook rice until tender.
    Drain.
    Meanwhile, cook onions in fat until tender.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Simmer for 15 minutes; remove bay leaf and cloves.
    Add rice.
    Arrange 1/3 of mixture in greased 1 1/2-quart casserole.
    Cover with 3 cut up franks.
    Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Uncover and bake another 15 minutes.
    Serves 6.
