Panoche - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, grated
    3 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
    1 c. cream or evaporated milk
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine first three ingredients in saucepan.
    Bring to a boil. Add butter and cook, stirring occasionally until 238\u00b0 (soft ball stage).
    Remove from heat.
    Add extract and nuts.
    Beat until candy begins to thicken.
    Turn into buttered 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Cut into squares.
    Makes 24 squares.
