Featherweight Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. flour
    2/3 c. milk
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    frosting to taste
Preparation
    Cream shortening with sugar until mixture is very light.
    Mix flour alternately with milk to the first mixture.
    Fold in egg whites which have been beaten until stiff, but not dry.
    Add vanilla.
    Put batter into two greased layer pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0. Frost to taste.
