Chunk Pickles(Old Fashion) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 qt. cucumbers
    2 c. salt
    vinegar (for soaking)
    2 1/2 qt. vinegar (for syrup)
    5 to 6 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. whole allspice
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 pod red pepper
    1 piece of horseradish
Preparation
    Wash and cut cucumbers into 1-inch pieces.
    Soak 3 days in brine made by dissolving 2 cups salt and a gallon of cool water. Drain and soak cucumbers 3 days in clear water (do not change the water).
    Drain.
