Polish Biga'S(Polish Sausage And Sauerkraut) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large can sauerkraut or 1 qt. jar, drained
    3 c. water, divided
    1/2 tsp. caraway seed
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. yellow split peas (soak 1 hour)
    2 onions, chopped fine
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 lb. fresh Polish sausage
Preparation
    Drain sauerkraut and add 2 cups water, caraway seed and sugar. Boil 10 minutes.
    Soak yellow split peas for 1 hour in 1 cup cold water.
    Boil until thick; add to sauerkraut.
    Saute onions in 2 tablespoons butter; add to sauerkraut mixture.
    Season with pepper.
    Set aside.
    Boil sausage for 1 hour in a little water. Take out and brown slightly in butter.
    Cut into 8 pieces and arrange on top of the sauerkraut.
    Serve with whole small potatoes, topped with fresh butter and dill.
