Red Hot Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers, peeled, sliced and centers removed (large cucumbers)
    1 c. lime
    4 1/2 qt. water
    1 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. powdered alum
    2 c. vinegar
    2 c. water
    7 c. sugar
    1 c. red hots
    4 sticks cinnamon
    red cake coloring
Preparation
    Heat until red hots are melted.
    Pour over sliced cucumbers and let stand overnight.
    Next morning, heat to boil.
    Put in jars and seal.
