Lennie'S Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 qt. water
    4 c. dried black-eyed peas
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
    2 or 3 large onions, cut in eighths
    2 lb. more or less smoked ham hocks
Preparation
    Bring all
    ingredients to a boil.
    Reduce to simmer and cook about
    2
    or
    3 hours or until tender.
    When done, remove meat and bones.
    Cut meat into bite-size pieces and return to pot. Discard
    bones, skin and fat.
    Freeze any remaining soup in single-serving containers for future meals. Serve with hot cornbread.\tMakes 12 bowls full.
