Sweet And Sour Sauerkraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    1 large onion
    2 sour apples, peeled and cut in 1/2-inch dice
    1 (32 oz.) bag sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
    1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes (undrained)
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. dry white wine (optional)
    1 Tbsp. caraway seed
    ground pepper to taste
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Melt butter in large skillet over medium-high heat.
    Add onion and apples; saute until softened, 3 to 8 minutes.
    Combine onion and apples with sauerkraut in large mixing bowl.
    Stir in tomatoes, brown sugar and wine.
    Season with caraway seed and black pepper.
    Transfer mixture to a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
    Cover tightly with foil.
    Bake 1 hour.
    Uncover and bake another 1/2 hour.
    Serve as a side dish.
