Mother'S Banana Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 (14 1/2 oz.) can Carnation milk
    3 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. vanilla
    vanilla wafers (Nabisco)
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    5 ripe bananas
Preparation
    Combine first 3 ingredients in top of double boiler or heavy pot (to keep from sticking or burning).
    Beat egg yolks and gradually stir in egg yolks in hot mixture.
    Add vanilla at end. Cook until thick, about 15 minutes.
