Chuckwagon Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. pinto beans
    1 lb. salt pork or ham hocks
    2 medium onions, chopped
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    3 tsp. chili powder
    6 oz. tomato paste
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Wash beans and soak overnight; drain.
    Place in a large kettle or Dutch oven and cover with water.
    Add remaining ingredients, except for salt.
    Simmer 3 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Add salt to taste and more water if needed.
    Cook another hour or until beans are tender.
