Southern Chess Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. milk
    1 egg, separated
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Add cornstarch to sugar and mix well.
    Add softened butter and egg yolk.
    Cream well.
    Add milk and blend; beat egg whites until frothy and add to mixture along with vanilla.
    Stir.
    Pour into unbaked pastry shell.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 until knife inserted in pie comes out clean.
