Hard Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 3/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. light corn syrup
    1 c. water
    1 tsp. orange flavoring
    powdered sugar (optional)
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients in a large saucepan.
    Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
    Boil, without stirring, until drops of syrup form hard and brittle.
    Remove from heat.
    After boiling has quit, stir in flavoring.
    Pour on lightly greased cookie sheet.
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
    Makes 2 pounds.
