Mary'S Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. Crisco
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. flour
    12 eggs, separated
    1/2 c. orange juice
    1/2 c. maple syrup
    1 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. hot coffee
    1 Tbsp. cinnamon
    1 Tbsp. cloves
    1 Tbsp. allspice
    1 Tbsp. nutmeg
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. mace
    1 lb. dates
    1 lb. figs
    1 lb. pecans
    2 lb. candied fruit mix
    2 lb. raisins
    1 lb. currants
    1 c. flour (for dredging)
Preparation
    Cream Crisco and sugar.
    Add egg yolks, one at a time, and beat well.
    Add liquids alternately with dry ingredients (except 1 cup flour).
    Add stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Fold in fruits and nuts that have been dredged in one cup flour.
    Steam 3 hours and dry out in slow oven for 1 hour.
