Applesauce Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    vegetable oil
    1 c. whole wheat flour
    1 1/4 c. unbleached white flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1/4 c. honey
    1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
    2 eggs
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1/4 c. apple cider, apple juice or milk
    1 c. unsweetened applesauce
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Fill heavy saucepan 2/3 full with vegetable oil; heat to 360\u00b0 on deep fat frying thermometer.
    Sift flour, baking powder, soda and spices together; set aside.
    Combine honey, brown sugar and eggs.
    Add 2 tablespoons oil, beating thoroughly.
    Alternately add dry ingredients and cider, mixing well.
    Stir in applesauce and vanilla.
    Carefully drop batter by level tablespoons, 3 or 4 at a time, into hot oil; do not overcrowd.
    Fry, turning once, for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.
    Remove with tongs and drain on paper towel.
    Makes 3 to 4 dozen.
