Sweet Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced cucumbers
    4 Tbsp. salt
    4 Tbsp. alum
    1/2 gal. vinegar
    8 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mixed pickling spice
Preparation
    Fill a gallon container with sliced cucumbers.
    Add salt and alum and fill with vinegar.
    Soak in this solution for 6 weeks. Drain.
    Pour sugar over cucumbers and stir around to mix.
    Do not add any more vinegar.
    Next, add pickling spices to the jar. Store and enjoy.
